Ah, Summer running. You love it. You hate it. You love the way you can run at 8pm and its still light out. You love that you can pack running clothes in your bag, and not have to carry a separate pack just to drag along the layers. Let’s be honest. You love that your run can end with a happy hour while relaxing outside in the sun.
Here we are at the height of race and sign up season. Everywhere you look it seems to be that someone is finishing a race (go you!) or encouraging you to join for the next race…well, I’m going to be doing both of those things today. 😉 If you decide to sign up for that race, make sure you do the most you can to really squeeze the most out of that race!
Here we go again! Along with a friend from work I’ve decided to sign up for another race. Not a half marathon, although I went back and forth debating the Love Marathon, but decided to ultimately look into other exercise options. I decided to go for the Hot Chocolate 15k race in April in Philadelphia. I haven’t run a 15k before, but the distance feels like it would be a good challenge while still being do-able despite the icky weather to train in!
Guys! Pretty much one of the best things happened this weekend. My fiance has been telling me for a while now that he would do a race with me and (in all fairness) has made some really good attempts, including signing us up for a race, but I was unable to go due to travel. BUT, it finally happened! AND the best part was, not only did I run with him, but also with his Mom and Sister. His Mom turned “21” this past Sunday and as a goal prior to this milestone birthday she had set out to run a race. Pretty awesome, huh?
So now it begins. That time each year when you start to think about your New Year’s Resolutions or big plans for the year. I think this year it has hit me a little bit earlier since I’m still coming off the high of running my first half marathon and overall a truly awesome year in general. The 2013 was easily one of the hardest years that I, along with much of my family, has endured. Luckily, 2014 has truly been a wonderful year to help balance a slightest bit of that year for me. Here’s to hoping for an even better 2015! I have begun to start thinking about what types of goals I may have for next year.
BOOM. Check! Cross! X! I can finally cross it off my bucket list! I completed my first half marathon and it was AMAZING. I’m still sore. And from everything I read and from all of those that I speak to regarding the post run process I can expect to be sore, and relatively fatigued for about a week. Sounds silly, but I was totally not expecting that. No 13.1 miles can’t just be a causal Sunday run? Oh, okay.
Happy Monday! Hope everyone is all pumped up for a fun week ahead. I for one am superrrr excited for this week considering its the LAST.WEEK.BEFORE.THE.HALF. YAYY! Not only am I excited to get out and do this race to prove to myself that I can do it, but I would say I’m actually pretty pumped to be able to take a slight, semi step back from running so much. First of all, I would like to start that by saying I never would have considered myself a runner…until about 6 months ago…now? Oh, I am totally a runner. Heyyy girl heyy. SO, with all of that being said considering that I have been running on average 3-4 times weekly for the last 15 weeks I’m ready to take a set back and hop into a little variety in my workouts.
Last weekend I got together with a few thousand of my closet friends to run a casual 6 miles around the streets of Philly…Just kidding! I ran the Philly 10k and oh mannn was it great. The race was planned spot on from start to finish starting from packet pick up. The bib pick up was down in Italian Market so I decided to incorporate it into my shorter run. It was fun to get a “first look” at the course by running through the neighborhood.
