Bowl of Benefits…Flawless Acai Bowl.

Alright, soooo….its happened. I jumped on the Acai bandwagon, but guess what?  I don’t hate it. I realize basically everyone and their Mother has been instagraming pictures of beautifully organized Acai bowls for months now, but in Philadelphia its not as easy to get your hands on a bowl as it may be in other places…Yes, West Coast..I’m talking to you.Acai Breakfast Bowl Keep it Real Clean

But, I totally took it as a sign when I was at Whole Foods and saw the frozen Acai packs were on sale. I mean, come on…I basically would have LOST money if I didn’t buy it. (Logic? ;)) So, I picked up a pack, headed home and popped it in the freezer.

Anddd, promptly forgot about it. Yup, completely forgot it existed until one day I came home from a cycling class and was feeling totally DRAINED. I decided to whip up a smoothie so that I could just pop some nutrients into my system without making a whole bunch of dirty dishes. I opened the freezer and BOOM, there it was. Once again, another sign ;). Although the first time I made an Acai bowl it wasn’t the cutest, most instragram-esqe picture, but it was DELICIOUS.Acai Breakfast Bowl Keep it Real Clean

Since then, I’ve gotten a little better at making it look better, but I still follow my first recipe because…it was FLAWLESS. Like Beyoncé. In a bowl. I mean, antioxidants that help improve your skin, boost your immune system, improve your energy, help lower cholesterol, aid in digestion…and much more? Flawless.

So, basically, if you want to be like Beyoncé, make this recipe*. This is the recipe I whipped up and yes, granted, to each their own, so feel free to change it up to suit your tastes. The best part is that you can mix up the toppings to whatever you like (or whatever is in your cupboard!).

Flawless Acai Bowl


– 1 Frozen Acai Pack

– 1/4 cup Frozen pineapple

– 1/2 Banana

– 1/4 cup blueberries

–  1/2 cup plain yogurt, or you can sub any milk to make it a little smoother

– Handful of kale (of course…)

– 1/2 tsp cinnamon

– Dollop of honey!


1. Blend all together. To “help” the Acai out of the pack, you can run it under hot water for a minute or so!

2. Pour it all into a bowl and add whatever toppings you like! Berries, granola, Seeds/Nuts, Coconut…find your inner Acai Bowl Picasso :-)

Its SO good and super easy to make! I mean, how many other meals can be so pretty? And, require so few dishes. I mean, I bet that’s why they call it a superfood…okay, no. Its not, but whatever. Just eat it and enjoy!



*Despite how delicious this recipe may be, it will not actually turn you into Beyoncé. Sorry.
