New Year’s Resolutions? I know what you’re thinking, “Um…wait, its April? New Year’s Resolutions are SOOO January” But, wait! That’s exactly why we should be checking in to see whats up with our resolutions! This year, I decided to switch it up and instead of making a list of things I wanted to change I made a Bucket List of what I wanted to accomplish this year. I think by starting the year positive with a list of aspirations helped to encourage me rather scold me for what I should have been doing all along! Okay, with that being said, no judgement here if you’re having a hard time keeping up with resolutions (or if you forgot what they even were!).
So let’s dust off those resolutions and get back to it!
1. Break it down!
Okay, so you have your goals for the new year, but let’s be honest, although its great to have broad goals if we want to get serious we need to figure out how thats going to happen for real. If your NYR was to get healthy, try to break it down and look at how you’re going to get there. That’s half the battle! It’ll make it way easier to figure out how get there, how many days to workout and what your diet can entail.
2. Plan, Plan, Plan!
Just like with anything you want to accomplish make sure you have a plan! Pick days to pick healthy recipes and meal prep so you have healthy foods ready when you are. Pick out days and times that you’re going to work out. Schedule, like really schedule, what time you’re going to go because once its in the books its harder to cancel. After all, you’re a boss and bosses don’t cancel 😉
3. Talk about it!
Okay, not like plaster it across your forehead talk about it, but definitely make it known! Tell your family members and friends about your goals. After all, they can be the best support system. Oh, and bonus, maybe by telling others you’ll inspire someone else to keep up with their New Year’s Resolutions!
4. Reward yourself!
Once you make your schedule and stick to it, you deserve a reward! Reward yourself along the way when you meet a milestone. Goal is to run a 10k? Great! How about a reward after you accomplish each big mileage milestone. 5 miles for a new pair of sunglasses? Not too shabby! Just be careful that your rewards don’t overshadow or negate your hard work, for example: Just because you ate healthy all week, doesn’t mean you get to eat an entire pint of ice cream 😉
5. Keep moving forward!
Even if you’ve completely demolished your New Year’s Resolutions and they feel miles off, just take those baby steps. Commit for a length of time, 2 weeks? 2 days? 2 hours? Whatever it is, commit to your goal for that duration of time and keep trucking forward.
Okay friends, so let’s push on forward! I hope this encourages you to keep up with your goals. Afterall, it looks like winter actually could end, which is awesome…so its time to get that bikini body in shape, right? 😉
So how about you? Keeping up with the New Year’s Resolutions?
If so, what are they? And, how have you been keeping up?
If not, how about adding new ones? Any ideas?
