SQUEEZE the day. Part 1: Gimme that burger.

Happy Saturday! Ever feel like you’re just pushing for the weekend starting bright and early every Monday morning? Me too. Maybe even Sunday night sometimes… Lately, in order to try to not just dread the week and wait eagerly for the weekend I’ve been trying to really squeeze the most from everyday. Yes, totally means some days I’m EXHAUSTED at the end of the day…or week, but I would rather have  a packed day than feel like I only have 2 days a week that are just for me. In order to really feel like I’m getting the most from a day I try to incorporate elements of productive work, good friends, yummy and healthy food, effective exercise and most definitely a good portion of fun. I definitely wouldn’t say that I’m a professional at the whole work/life balance, but I do feel like within the last few months I’ve definitely learned some great tricks that work for me. In this series, SQUEEZE the day, I’ll share with you some tips and tricks that I’ve learned to incorporate into my routine to help really try to get the most from each day!

Squeeze the day

Okay, promise to stick with me on this one…promise? PERFECT. So, I know this may sound really silly and counter intuitive, but recently I started eating a hamburger after I run. Wait, what? I thought you said you’d stick with me!! Let me back it up. I’m not lying, but its def not every time after I run. To be exact, its 1 Tuesday a month after running 5 miles. Maybe a few of you have caught on? I’m talking about the Shake Track and Field run! The Shake Track & Fild hosts group runs, bike rides and in some cities yoga classes that are…(wait for it)…FREE. So far, I’ve only tried the runs, but since they are amazing, I’m hoping to join into the bike rides soon!

In Philadelphia, the group meets at Philadelphia Runner (3621 Walnut Street) the second Tuesday of every month at 7 p.m. There’s a bag check available so you don’t need to worry about having to run home to drop off your bag and change, or run with your brief case (do people still carry briefcases?…). The run ends at the University City Shack on 32nd and Chestnut Street. Your bag (or briefcase…still confused) meets you there! You get to enjoy a free beer and grab some dinner after your 3-5 mile run! This past Tuesday we joined in for the group run. Talk about balance! Get in a good run, hang out with friends, eat some yummy food and all this after a day of work? Ultimate balance.
